Aloha, Kumusta Po

We’re Elaine and Vanessa, the women behind Kam&46. We’ve had a lot of people ask about the meaning behind our name, so here it is. Kam&46 is a nod to the homes that shaped us—where we grew up surrounded by family, love, and delicious food.

Both of us were raised by immigrant parents and grandparents, and our homes were the heart of our big families. These were the places where everyone would gather for celebrations, where traditions were born, and where so many memories were made. Interestingly, each of our homes had its own nickname. Vanessa’s family called her place "Kam," after Kamehameha IV Rd in Kalihi, Hawaii. Elaine’s home was known as "46," taken from her family’s house number in Daly City, California.

It was in these homes that we learned about our Filipino heritage— and in Vanessa’s case, the vibrant local culture of Hawaii too. These cultural roots became a big part of who we are, especially when it comes to food. The dishes we create are inspired by the comforting flavors we grew up with, and they help us feel connected to our families even when we’re far away.

Through Kam&46, we’re not just sharing food—we’re sharing a piece of ourselves. We hope that when you dine with us, you’re reminded of your own roots and the things that make you happy. So come on over, enjoy a meal, talk story, and let’s create some new memories together. Aloha and Mabuhay, friends!
